Eleanore Kelly
Stoneware Clay Sculpture
Eleanore Kelly is an artist living in Chester Springs, PA, and has owned horses for over 40 years. With a genuine love for horses and all animals, she channels their energy and movement into her creative work. Eleanore’s art celebrates the strength, spirit, and beauty of these animals.
Stoneware clay was the perfect medium for designing my strong, graphic, minimalist horses using hand-building techniques, adding decorative markings, textures, and glazes, then firing in the kiln. Each horse is a one-of-a-kind, hand-sculpted piece, expressing that horse’s spirit. When the kiln firing is completed, the anticipation of the final horse leaps out of the fire and back into my hands.
While Eleanore was in Art School for advertising design, she had her first printmaking class. After art school, while working in advertising, she could then study with Mitch Lyons, a nationally known ceramics artist and printmaker. As well as attending workshops and classes at The Historic Yellow Springs in Chester County, PA., Main Line Art Center and Wallingford Art Center in Delaware County, PA.
