Robert “Bob” Milnazik
Commercial Artist and Painter, 1930-2012
Robert (Bob) was born in Germantown, Pennsylvania, on June 5th, 1930. In early youth, Bob began to explore the artistic side of his personality. Studying art, illustration, and graphic design at the Philadelphia College of Art, he met fellow student and future wife, Janet Lawson (Milnazik). In 1953, Bob began what was to be his life long career in graphic design and illustration. He brought his own unique style to the communications of so many companies and received numerous awards in the process. Bob was an "institution" in the Philadelphia design world, from his start in 1953 until his retirement.
After his retirement from commercial design world in 1953, he immersed himself into painting. His subject matter were largely urban scenes, older planes, cars (a love from early youth), and historical locations. He brought a sense of design and composition to his work that enabled his paintings to be more than simply subjects. His art was filled with detail and the observation of light, making his paintings sing.
